Victoria Ware Pitcher - medium

We have two of these flow blue Ironstone earthenware jugs; medium and large. 

The scene depicted is of an Old World town, possibly European with a statue and entorage and typical of the romantic style used on this pottery.

Originating from Staffordshire, flow blue is a recognised category of antique porcelain.  Using the transfer process, cobalt blue when fired "flows" into the piece.  It was at the time the perfect alternative to expensive Chinese Porcelain.  Its popularity peaked in 1910 but is still highly collectable today.

The medium jug stands 12cm high , the large 15cm approx . Both in excellent condition. The medium has a a couple of glazing marks to the spout, both have usual wear to the base.
